All is now set for the 2011 edition of the annual future Awards in Lagos as three top athletes who made their marks in 2010 have been nominated for this year’s edition.
In the Nigeria athletics circle, Africa queen of tracks, Blessing Okagbare 22, will be slugging it out with others for the young person of the year award which includes music producer, Don Jazzy 29, World renowned actress, Genevieve Nnaji 31, Nigeria’s music duo, Psquare and others.
In the sports personality of the year category, 2010 Commonwealth Games triple jump gold medalist, Tosin Oke 30, will slug it out with other sports personalities which have top stars like Peter Emelieze 22 who was at the Commonwealth Games in India, another athlete, Janet Dung 24, Super Eagles players Chinedu Obasi 24 and Vincent Enyeama 28, wrestler Christiana Nwoye, Super Falcons hotshot, Desire Oparanozie 19 and basketballer Mobolaji Akiode 28 will all slug it out to claim the title of the sports personality of the year..
Voting begins last month with voting numbers as 33120 for Nigeria, 99199 for Canada, 80079 for UK: and 97605 USA.
